My very first blog message and my very first day in Leicester!

Hello!

So here it is: my very first message...

Today was Leicester departure day :-)
We left at 6 o'clock in the morning. It was all very exciting. The trip was relatively pleasant, though not without setbacks.

First of all, we had a bit of trouble installing the GPS. When we finally got it (after an hour or so), we had a smooth trip up to Calais. But when we got to Calais, and proudly showed our reservation sheet, it turned out that we were actually in Dunkerque. Luckily, Calais was not too far. When we actually got to Calais, we had a spot of bother with the British Customs. The windows of our rental car (= minivan!) are tinted. So the clerk couldn't see our faces. Solution: we all had to get out of the car and individually show our identity cards.

We were all expecting to see a lot of snow when we got out of the ferry, but there was none! In fact, the sky was blue and the sun was shining. As we gradually drove towards the Midwest, we encountered more and more snow. When we finally got to Leicester, snow was falling down quite hard. Now, the streets are completely white. I hope the streets won't be too slippery tomorrow... The house is really beautiful and extremely large! I share a (very large) room with Evi. When we got here, Molly's daughters Clare and Anna were waiting for us. They had a nice, hot lasagna in the oven and a lovely cheesecake in the fridge.
Now, we are all ready to end the day 'the English way': with a nice cup of tea ;-).

Lovelyjubbely...
