Hello!
Today was a very exciting day. We had our first encounter with Groby Community College. This is the school where we will be teaching.
We made a very good first impression: we were 30 minutes late... The roads were very slippery due to the snow and Ulla, our sat nav, wouldn't cooperate with us. To top it off, we didn't have the correct telephone number, so we couldn't call to inform them we were running late.
But when we got there, we were relieved: Viv, the woman we were supposed to meet, was very friendly. She even got us a cup of coffee (hmmmmmmm coffee!!!). Then, we got a quick 'tour' around the school. But one tour is not nearly enough: I think it will take us more than 5 weeks to figure out the corridor system.
The lessons we observed were 'different', let's just leave it at that. I saw so many things that were unusual... It would take me forever to sum them all up. But it is a nice school and I think I will love teaching there.
After our first (exhausting) day at Groby College, we went to find a pumping station. We eventually found one in Leicester, right next to a supermarket. So we also got some groceries etc. I also bought something else: my very first Leicester Hedgie! Therefore, I will name him Leicestie. Leicestie the Hedgehog. He is a very cute Valentine's Day cuddly toy. You will soon spot him on my blog!
Then, we went home, had a nice dinner (Evi made a very nice pasta dish) and lit the stove. Now, we are all getting ready to watch a film and again have a cup of tea. Hmmm.
No pictures today I'm afraid... Due to all the excitement I kind of forgot to take pictures. But I'll make it up to you some other time!
Byebye!!!!
